TENNERTON – RHP Resources leapfrogged from third place into the lead in the Buckhannon Country Club Men’s Golf League last week with a 25 ½ to 14 ½ victory over cellar-dwelling Sunset Graphics.
Previous week leader Loudin Insurance lost a 21-19 squeaker to High Point Construction and dropped into a second-place tie with C. J. Maggies, who claimed a 21-19 decision over Hank Ellis Insurance.
In the other matches, First Community Bank edged past Tierney State Farm Insurance (21-19), First Central Bank nosed out Wendy’s (21-19) and Ralston Press slipped past Triple-L Mart (21-19).
John Moss of Sunset Graphics captured Low Actual honors with a 33, with Lynn Helmick of RHP Resources, Ralston Press’s Tink Simmons and Tierney State Farm Insurance’s Mike George following with a 36 apiece.
Simmons, First Central Bank’s Bob Perry and Holt Poling of RHP Resources shared Low Net laurels at 30, with Moss next with a 31.
Because of so many rainouts, the second and third quarters are being shortened to four weeks, with the fourth and final quarter slated for five weeks.
