Kenneth A. Smith, 67, of Buckhannon, died Saturday, June 27, 2009 at his home. He was born on June 2, 1942 in Barbour Co., a son of the late Elbert Austin and Virginia Gladys Moore Smith. In addition to his parents, one brother Davy L. Smith and one sister Charlotte S. Norman, also preceded him in death.

On February 3, 2004 he married Patricia Riley, who survives.

Also surviving are four daughters: Kenya Mae Smith of Buckhannon, Kimberly Erlenbach and husband Dan, Sonja Smith and Kora Smith all of Ohio; one grandson William Martin of Ohio; four granddaughters: Danielle Erlenbach of Ohio, Collean Martin of Ohio, Kahala Duffield and Barbara Duffield of Ohio; eight brothers: Paul W. Smith and wife Elsie, Thomas L. Smith and wife Brenda, Richard H. Smith, James B. Smith and wife Gala, Timothy Smith and wife Christine all of Buckhannon, Leonard Smith and wife Dorothy of Utica, Ohio, Roger D. Smith and wife Connie of Huntington, W.Va. and Daniel K. Smith and wife Michelle of Chattanooga, Tenn.; four sisters: Mary M. DeBarr and husband Donald, Melinda Kay Smith both of Buckhannon, Kathy Bedell and husband Denny of San Antonio, Texas and Lisa C. Whaley and husband Brian of Alliance, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law: Stacie Marsh and husband Daniel of Buckhannon and Lisa Rodriguez of French Creek, W.Va.; two brothers-in-law: Robert Riley of Buckhannon and James Riley and wife Wilma of Queens, W.Va.; mother-in-law Rita Riley of Buckhannon; best friend Jimmie Shipman of Tallmansville; four nephews: Joshua Riley and Justin Rodriguez both of Buckhannon, Brend and Brooks Smith of Queens; and niece Amber Sines and husband Russell of Volga.

Mr. Smith served as a soldier in the U.S. Army.

Friends will be received Thursday, July 2, 2009 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Wease Day officiating. The burial will follow at the Reger Chapel Cemetery. Buckhannon VFW Post 3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post 7 American Legion, DAV Chapters 5 and 36 will conduct military honors at the graveside. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
