BUCKHANNON — A Buckhannon man wants to offer Upshur County voters a third choice in the controversial sheriff’s race this fall and is launching a write-in campaign for the November election.
Gilbert Valdez, a 1992 graduate of Buckhannon-Upshur High School, has served in the United States Marine Corps and Army National Guard and is a 17-year special operations veteran. He has supported the Department of Homeland Security, the National Security Agency, the Drug Enforcement Agency, the National Nuclear Security Agency and others.
Now, he wants to turn his attention to Upshur County and specifically the office of sheriff.
