BUCKHANNON — A drug allegation against a Buckhannon man will be dropped since Bexar County, Texas has opted not to pursue extradition.
Richard Edwards, 47, had been arrested last week on a 10-year-old bench warrant from Bexar (pronounced Bear) County for a 2002 indictment of possession of marijuana, four ounces to five pounds.
In a hearing held last week before Judge Thomas Keadle, Edwards chose to fight his extradition — but now that won’t be necessary.
Upshur County Prosecuting Attorney Jake Reger said Thursday that Bexar County had decided not to pursue extradition after all.
