Freddie made his prediction Saturday morning as part of the West Virginia Wildlife Center’s annual Groundhog Day celebration.

As if on cue, the chilly but sunny morning gave way to cloudy skies just minutes before Freddie’s prediction occurred promptly at 10 a.m. With Freddie not seeing his shadow, West Virginia Wildlife Center’s biologist Gene Thorn declared to a cheerful crowd that spring would soon be here on behalf of French Creek Freddie.
