BUCKHANNON — City attorney Dave McCauley gave the Buckhannon City Council ‘a lot of homework to look at’ with the introduction of Ordinance No. 371 which will ban smoking and the use of all other tobacco products in city-owned parks and recreational facilities.
McCauley presented a draft of Ordinance No. 371 to city council during their meeting Thursday night.
The ordinance states: “The city council believes that smoking and the use of other tobacco products occurring in the proximity of children and adults participating in or attending outdoor activities as spectators at city-owned parks and other recreational facilities is harmful to participant and spectator health and is often offensive to those persons using such facilities.”
