BUCKHANNON The West Virginia State Police are following up with the Upshur County Prosecuting Attorney about whether kidnapping charges will be filed against a man who triggered an Amber Alert after leaving the county with his stepdaughter and her baby on Tuesday.
The Amber Alert said Margel Tenney, 57, of Rock Cave, likely abducted Shaina Tenney, 16, and her 7-month-old child, Grace Hope Tenney.
They were found Wednesday morning when Cpl. T.A. Menendez from the Buckhannon detachment of the State Police happened to spot their tan car on I-79 outside of Weston.
He knew the vehicle, the description and the tag number, said Sgt. J.L. Clay, the new commander of the Buckhannon detachment.
Troopers arrested Tenney on charges unrelated to the Amber Alert. He was arraigned in Lewis County Magistrate Court on two counts of sexual abuse by a parent or guardian.
