TENNERTON — A tree falling on a power line Tuesday morning led to power outages for hundreds of Mon Power customers and an early dismissal day for Upshur County students.
Superintendent Scott Lampinen said that both Buckhannon-Upshur High School and Tennerton Elementary School lost power, prompting the decision to dismiss school at 1:30 p.m.
“The reason we dismissed everyone is by the time we knew when the power would come on, it would be several hours,” he said.
