CLARKSBURG — Jack William Kirchberg, 80, of Glenville passed away Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014 at Louis A. Johnson Veterans Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.
He was born Dec. 27, 1933 in Akron, Ohio; son of the late Herman Wesley and Ninevah Damaris Salmons Kirchberg.
Jack is survived by his wife, of 55 years, Opal J. Carter Kirchberg; four children; Randy and Marcie Kirchberg of Buckhannon, Patty and Cliff Thrasher of Glenville, Steve and Sherry Kirchberg of Morganton, N.C., Anita and Mike Sprouse of Glenville; 12 grandchildren; C.J. Thrasher, Steve Kirchberg, Jr., Andrea Rounds, Olivia Lewis, Marissa Fox, Amanda Lambert, Geneva Thrasher, Jarod Kirchberg, Valeri Sprouse, Jacqueline Kirchberg, Hilari Sprouse, Jennifer Westfall; eight great-grandchildren; Jeremiah Lewis, Destiny Lambert, Maeva Rounds, Kendra Fox, Aiden Kirchberg, Evan Kirchberg, Elliot Fox, Bryson Lambert, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, David and Charles Kirchberg; one stepbrother, Harry Kirchberg; stepfather, Senate Cottrill.
Jack worked in the oil and gas field as an equipment operator. He loved to listen to Glenville football games, watch Mountaineer football and was a huge NASCAR fan; especially Bill Elliott. Jack surrendered his life to Jesus, Jan. 21, 2013.
A private military service will be held at the West Virginia National Cemetery on Wednesday, Jan. 22.
