BUCKHANNON, Another game, another double-double for West Virginia Wesleyan senior forward Tanner McGrew.
McGrew, who leads the Mountain East Conference in double-doubles and is fifth nationally with 12.6 rebounds per game, tallied 21 points and grabbed 18 rebounds in a 74-59 victory over the University of Virginia-Wise Saturday in MEC action at the Rockefeller Center.

Turnovers plague Bucs in setback

TENNERTON -- Robert C. Byrd capitalized on a flurry of early turnovers by Buckhannon-Upshur in cruising to a 70-31 Big 10 Conference victory on Tuesday night.
The Bucs, losers of four straight, are now 5-8 overall and 2-6 in league games. They will return to action at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at home against Philip Barbour.

Tenney captures Winnerís Choice title

FAIRMONT -- Buckhannon-Upshur's Brandon Tenney captured the 126-pound weight class at the Winner's Choice held this past Friday and Saturday.
Tenney, a junior, improved his record to 39-0 on the season. He earned a 6-2 decision over Philip Mary of Peters Township in the title match.

Lady Bobcats rally past Urbana to collect first win

URBANA, Ohio -- West Virginia Wesleyan used a furious second-half rally to capture its first win of the season in a 69-60 win at Urbana Saturday in MEC play.
The Lady 'Cats, who trailed 34-23 at the intermission, snapped a 34-game losing streak with the victory.

Senior holds off Lady Bucs, 50-39

TENNERTON -- First-year Buckhannon-Upshur coach Jeremy Maxwell is trying to build a program that can compete against the Big 10 Conference's best.
Maxwell's Lady Bucs got their chance at one of those elite teams on Wednesday night, putting up a hard-fought battle before eventually falling to Class AA, No. 2 Fairmont Senior, 50-39.

Buc grapplers go 2-1 in home quad

TENNERTON -- The Buckhannon-Upshur High School wrestling team picked up a pair of wins in a home quad meet on Friday.
The meet was moved from Thursday to Friday due to the weather and included the Bucs, Elkins, Fairmont Senior and Hurricane.
