Lady Bucs pull away late against Elkins

TENNERTON -- The Buckhannon-Upshur girls found their offense just in time to avoid an early exit from the Class AAA, Region II, Section 2 tourney on Wednesday night,
The Lady Bucs, playing without leading scorer and point guard Hanna McClung, erupted for 27 points in the final canto to finally pull away from a determined Lady Tiger squad, 54-29.

B-U places third in regional tourney

TENNERTON -- Brandon Tenney and Jack Garcia captured titles as the Buckhannon-Upshur High School wrestling team placed third at Saturday's Class AAA, Region II tournament.
The Bucs qualified nine total wrestlers for the state tournament, which will take place Thursday through Saturday at the Huntington Civic Center.

MORGANTOWN -- Maggie Miller captured the 100-yard backstroke and was part of the winning 200 freestyle relay team as the Buckhannon-Upshur girls turned in a third-place finish at Friday's state meet held at the WVU Natatorium.
The Lady Bucs compiled 122 points to finish behind George Washington (205) and Morgantown (122). Charleston Catholic (113) was fourth and Parkersburg (107) fifth.
