B-U freshmen split in first two outings

TENNERTON — The Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers opened their 2012-13 freshmen basketball season with a split of games against Route 33 rivals, defeating Elkins in their season opener and falling to Lewis County to end the week Friday.

Josh Trent scored a team-high 15 points Wednesday to lead the Bucs’ balanced scoring effort in a 62-55 win over Elkins. Mitchell Williams and Cody Garrett also scored in double figures with 14 and 11 points, respectively, and all eight B-U players made scoring contributions in the win.
