Polar Bears outrun Bucs

TENNERTON — Three Fairmont Senior players scored in double figures Thursday and the visiting Polar Bears led by as many as 25 points in the second half of a 62-42 defeat of the Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers.

The Polar Bear backcourt duo of DeVanté Waites and Travon Horton combined for 35 points, with Waites pouring in 19 and Horton adding 16. Fairmont Senior forward Shaquille Washington tacked on 10 points, as the Polar Bears won their fourth straight Big Ten Conference game.

Fairmont Senior outscored B-U 36-20 in the paint and forced 20 B-U turnovers, allowing them to earn a 20-0 advantage in fast-break points. The Polar Bears improved their season record to 7-3 and sit at 5-1 in the Big Ten.
