Cold third quarter costs Lady Bucs at Webster County

UPPER GLADE — A second-half shooting slump denied the Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Buccaneers an opportunity to pick up a second straight win Friday in a 40-37 loss at Webster County.

The Lady Bucs shot 10-for-29 from the field in the first half and jumped out to a 24-17 halftime lead, but shot just 4-for-22 from the field in the second half. The host Lady Highlanders outscored B-U 14-4 in the third quarter to take a 30-28 lead and shot 5-for-6 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter to hang on for the win.
