Bucs hit sectionals on four-game streak

TENNERTON — The Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers swept a doubleheader Thursday against Big Ten foe Lincoln, widening their winning streak to four games and pulling their record back above .500 heading into sectional tournament play.

The Bucs will carry a 13-12 overall mark into the Class AAA Region II, Section 4 opener against Lewis County, scheduled for Tuesday, after winning Thursday’s contests against the visiting Cougars by scores of 9-5 and 13-3.

B-U infielder Dalton Westfall added three more runs-batted-in to his weekly total, amassing 15 RBIs over a span of four games in three days. Westfall drove in two in the opener with a run-scoring ground-out and a sacrifice fly to the left-field wall, then cracked a RBI single in game two, when he went 2-for-4 and scored two runs.
