TENNERTON — The East Fairmont Bees opened Wednesday’s Big Ten Conference basketball game against the Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers on an 8-0 run and the Bucs never caught up in a 69-46 loss.

East Fairmont’s low-post duo of Nick Greely and Myles Johnson took over the game, scoring 37 of the Bees’ 69 points. East Fairmont outscored B-U 52-24 in points in the paint, with Johnson scoring a game-high 19 points and Greely following close behind with 18.

“The big guys, especially Greely, did a great job in the post,” B-U head coach Eli Gurash said after the game. “When he caught it, it was in. I thought maybe we could have adjusted in our man [defense] against that, but the bigger problem was that we were turning the ball over carelessly and then we were digging ourselves a hole. We had to switch to our zone [defense] just to find some energy, and we didn’t find some energy until the third quarter.”
