TENNERTON — Kenneth Parker, 80, of French Creek, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at his home. He was born on November 30, 1932, at Knawls Creek in Braxton County, a son of the late Ause H. and Nettie Frances Bacorn Parker.
Surviving are his wife Cheryl Jean Shaffer Parker. Also surviving are two sons: Kenneth Stephen Parker and wife Tammy of Mineral Wells, and William Andrew Parker and wife Cynthia of Buckhannon; one daughter Kennetha Lynette Howes and husband Mark of Hacker Valley; one daughter-in-law Mary Jane Parker of Weston; four stepsons: John Nathan Allen and wife Susie of Pittsburgh, Pa., Mark Justin Allen and wife Shana of Huttonsville, Robert Nevin Allen and wife Jodi of Buckhannon, and Kristin Rogers; one stepdaughter Kandi Genis; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister Juanita Stutler; several nieces and nephews; and former wife Sharon Arnold.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Margaret E. Parker; one son J.B. Parker; one sister Grace Hardman; and three brothers: William Parker, Brad Parker and Fred Parker.
Mr. Parker served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was retired as a central office technician for Bell Atlantic. He was a member of the Upper West Fork River Watershed Association, the board of Stonewall Jackson Heritage Arts and Crafts Jubilee and the board of the Tri-County Clinic in Rock Cave. He helped organize and start the Southern Upshur Business Association (SUBA). He attended the First Presbyterian Church of Buckhannon.
The family received friends on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, from 2-5 p.m., at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel. The body will lie in state from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the funeral hour, today, Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at the First Presbyterian Church of Buckhannon with the Rev. Bill Harrison and Rev. Julie Sterling officiating.
Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Following the interment, a reception for family and friends will be held at the Christian Fellowship Church on Norvell Avenue in Buckhannon.
