Loy E. Kelley

TENNERTON — Loy E. Kelley, 73, of Buckhannon, was called home at 11:05 p.m., on March 9, 2013, while a patient at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport. He was born on August 26, 1939, in Tenmile, a son of the late Richard and Della Myrtle Tenney Kelley.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Karen Lewis Kelley; two children: Melodi Turner of Morgantown and Loy Shawn Kelley and wife Roxie of Pursglove; five grandchildren: Sgt. Michael A. Turner and wife Nicole of Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Md., Sarah Strickler and husband Kevin of Barnegat, N.J., Franklin Boyce and fiancée Kristen Kelley, Wesley Boyce and fiancée Shay Wilson and Hannah Turner, all of Morgantown; and two great-grandchildren: Madison and Brendan both of Barnegat, N.J. Also surviving are siblings: Gerline Chism of Nashville, Tenn., Maxine Lotz of Whitehouse, Tenn., Donald Kelley of Ivy, Louise Clemons of Joplin, Missouri, Vondaline (Bonny) Sensing, Eugene Kincaid and Franklin Kincaid all of Dixon, Tenn. He was preceded in death by one sister Ina Parks.

Mr. Kelley was a retired coal miner who had worked for Southern Ohio’s Martinka Coal Mine near Fairmont. He was a member of UMWA District 31. He was a member of Sand Run Baptist Church and the Randolph County Senior Citizens where he enjoyed playing pool and cards. He especially enjoyed playing his fiddle.

In keeping with the wishes of the family, Mr. Kelley will be cremated. At the request of the deceased, a private graveside service will be held at a later date at the Lanham Cemetery in Queens with the Rev. Donald Butcher officiating.
