TENNERTON — Betty Lou Garton Colerider passed away peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013, at Serenity Care Home in Buckhannon where she resided since March 2013, with her beloved husband Dale. She was 88 years old. The Coleriders would have celebrated 69 wonderful years of marriage on Sept. 1. Throughout the years, they lived in Buckhannon, W.Va. and Rockledge, Fla. They shared a love of golf with many friends in Buckhannon and Rockledge. Mrs. Colerider survived breast cancer and recovered quickly “so she could swing a golf club.” Also avid Mountaineer Fans, the Coleriders attended football games for many years and enjoyed watching the team play whenever possible. Mrs. Colerider was a faithful Methodist and attended church regularly.

Known as “Nana” to her family, Mrs. Colerider was a role model of homemaking and was dearly loved by her grandchildren and great grandchildren for her doting ways. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Deborah and Robert Kittle of Buckhannon and Gary and Debbie Colerider of Rockledge, Fla.; two grandchildren and their spouses: Cynthia and John McQuiston of Kennett Square, Pa. and Robert (Rob) Kittle II and wife Tonya of Buckhannon; and four great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn and Andrew McComas of Kennett Square, Pa. and Taylor and McKenzie Kittle of Buckhannon. In addition, one sister-in-law “Winnie” Garton of Buckhannon and several dear nieces and nephews survive.

Mrs. Colerider was preceded in death by her parents Lura Allman Garton Wilson and John Henry Garton as well as her siblings: Bill Garton, Robert Garton, Ann Reppert, Helen Byers and Dorothy Wills, her brother and sister-in-law Margaret and Bud Smallridge, and a very special nephew and fellow Mountaineer fan Roger Smallridge.

At her request, she will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
