TENNERTON — Eugene Harris Billingslea, 87, of Warren, Pa. passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at John Blair Hospice House in Warren, Pa.
Eugene was born May 29, 1927 in Hughes, Ark. to the late Eugene and Armarie Kernodle Billingslea. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged. He worked in the computer field which necessitated moving to 12 states.
He married Thelma Rosabell McKisic on May 29, 1954. They celebrated his 87th birthday and 60 years of marriage on May 29, 2014.
He is survived by his wife Thelma and children, Christie Ann Urig and husband Duane of Cherry Grove, Pa., Sadie Billingslea, of Warren, one brother; Roy McKisic and wife Eunice, Weston; sisters, Jane McCartney and husband Delbert, Heaston, W.Va., and Vera DuZerger and husband Art, Debary, Fla.; granddaughter; Debra Urig of Cherry Grove, Pa., grandsons; David Urig and wife Wendy, of Frisco, Texas, and Samuel McCaig of Cherry Grove, Pa. He also has three great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
He and his wife fostered 30 children after they relocated from Texas to Pennsylvania. Children were a great part of his life and his home was always filled with children until his health necessitated their moving into an apartment.
Eugene was buried Thursday, June 26, 2014 in the Brown Cemetery, Heaston Ridge Road, Crawford. The family had lived in West Virginia for two years, and he very much loved that state.
