Pearlie Ray Messenger

COWEN — Pearlie Ray Messenger, 83, of Buckhannon formerly of Webster County passed away Friday, Sept. 21, 2012. He was born April 30, 1929, at Erbacon, a son of the late O. Virgil Messenger and Ollie Rose Messenger.

Pearlie was a retired U.S. Army Veteran with over 23 years of service having served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Pearlie also worked as a mechanic in Cross Creek, N.C. and retired with 20 years of service. He was a Protestant by faith.

His son, Ray Messenger of Tennessee, brothers: Max Messenger of Tennessee and Burnell Messenger of Ohio, sisters: Velma Dillon of Erbacon and Freda Ratliff of Florida and two grandchildren survive him.

In addition to his parents, his wife Joanna Messenger, brothers: Odie Messenger, Oral Messenger and sister Ora Gates preceded him in death. Graveside service was held Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012 at the West Virginia Memorial Gardens, in Calvin. Services were entrusted to the care of Morris Funeral Home in Cowen.
