HINKLEVILLE A Buckhannon man died as a result of the two-vehicle accident that occurred Monday night in Hinkleville.
Rudolf J. Spek, 69, of Buckhannon, lost control of his Chevy Malibu on Route 20 South and was struck by an oncoming vehicle, according to a press release from the West Virginia State Police.
The accident occurred about 7:05 p.m. on the hill going towards Adrian. The investigating officer is Trooper D.J. Lowry of the Buckhannon detachment.
Names of the other people involved and more information about the accident have not been released.
Patty Cutright, co-owner of the Colonial Motel, said Spek worked as a part-time night clerk at the motel in the evenings.
He came to the U.S. several years ago and he has been living with us, she said. He used to have a computer business and was semi-retired. He basically spent his life running errands for people and helping out. He was a very quiet, nice gentleman.
