BUCKHANNON — Plans to put a new town square at the corner of Main Street and Spring Street have been halted, for now.
The city had applied for $150,000 in funding from the West Virginia Division of Culture and History.
City administrator Michael Doss announced at city council last week that the application had not been approved, and the city plans to reapply.
The town square was designed to feature a fountain, a low lying amphitheater, art exhibits, common areas with benches and tables, several trees and grassy areas.
The West Virginia Division of Culture and History provided several comments for improving future applications, according to Doss.
