BUCKHANNON — Create Buckhannon plans to light up the town on Nov. 24, including the decorative lights on Main Street damaged after the summer derecho.

The Main Street lights are on track to be repaired in time for the event, according to Kevin Campbell, a Create Buckhannon volunteer who works on the lights.

Campbell said the lights were damaged by the summer storm on June 29 and when someone drove into a power pole downtown a month later.

Sam Nolte, another Create Buckhannon member, blamed “Mother Nature” and the June derecho.

“What didn’t it damage?” he said.

Campbell said the spare parts Create Buckhannon ordered have arrived, and he plans to make repairs this week and weekend.
