BUCKHANNON — In small town USA, places like Buckhannon, veterans are honored every day, according to Kelly Goddard, past state commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars for West Virginia.
Goddard, who spoke at the Veterans Day program at the VFW Monday, said small towns are better than big cities are at recognizing veterans, but on Monday, he issued a few special reminders.
He told the more than 100 people present to remember the thousands of military members deployed today, even as they honor veterans of wars past.
