BUCKHANNON — Creed Sylvanus Simons II, 69, of Buckhannon, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012 at his home under the care of St. Joseph’s Hospice of Buckhannon. He was born May 20, 1943 in Clarksburg, a son of the late Creed Sylvanus and Birtise Lillian Gould Simons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his adopted parents, Leslie and Edna Simons and one brother, Richard Simons. He is survived by niece, Breanna Poling of Buckhannon and several other nieces and nephews. Mr. Simons was a nurse’s aide at Weston State Hospital in Weston. He was a Christian by faith, a volunteer for the Troop 128 as an assistants cout Master. He was a foster grandparent for Region 7 and an Upshur County Head Start volunteer. He also served in the U.S. Army and was stationed all over the world. Friends will be received Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Brad Tenney officiating. VFW Post 3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post 7 American Legion, and DAV Chapters 5 and 36 will conduct military honors at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
