B-U duo earns all-state honors

TENNERTON — The Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Buccaneers continue to reap postseason awards from their memorable 2012 volleyball season, with two players recently earning spots on the Class AAA All-State Volleyball Team.

B-U junior Leah Blend captured one of 10 spots on the All-State Second Team and junior Mackenzie Leigh stood among 18 players named to the Special Honorable Mention list. Both Lady Buc middle blockers surpassed the 200-kill milestone for the season and racked up more than 50 blocks during a 2012 campaign in which their B-U squad went 24-6-2 overall, finished second in the Big Ten Conference and won a Class AAA Region II, Section 2 championship.
