TENNERTON — As they prepared for the 2012 soccer campaign, Buckhannon-Upshur’s Lady Bucs set four goals for themselves.
They were to win the Big Ten Conference, the Region II, Section 2 tournament, the Region II title and the WWVSSAC Class AAA state championship.
They accomplished the first three goals, but came up short in the state tourney, falling to Winfield’s Lady Generals, who wound up winning it all.
But it was still a fantastic year. The Lady Bucs posted an overall record of 22-2 and won the conference title with a 12-0 ledger. And 15 of their wins were shutouts. They entered the state tourney riding a 21-game winning streak.
