BUCKHANNON — The Upshur County Sheriff’s Department recently received some new equipment from the Governor’s Highway Safety funding.
The new equipment includes five HP laptops and two portable breathalyzers (PBTs) that officers can carry with them.
Sheriff Virgil Miller said the new laptops are especially timely as he is in the middle of replacing the department’s older model laptops, which are four to five years old.
The department recently purchased four laptops of its own.
Officers must now complete more and more of their reports online, according to Miller.
