INWOOD — The Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Buccaneers picked up their first win of the 2012-13 basketball season Friday evening, then came up five points short less than 24 hours later in their second road game in as many days.

Kelsey Hinzman and Alexis McDaniels posted double-doubles Friday, with Hinzman scoring a game-high 15 points and grabbing 15 rebounds and McDaniels matching 10 points and 10 rebounds in a 43-27 defeat of Lewis County. B-U center Megan Wilfong added nine points and a team-high 20 rebounds in the win, which evened the Lady Bucs’ record at 1-1.

However, the Lady Bucs fell a game below .500 again on Saturday with a 37-32 loss to the host Musselman Lady Applemen. Musselman made the difference at the free-throw line, shooting 18-for-21 for the game and 12-for-14 in the fourth quarter from the stripe, while the Lady Bucs shot just 7-for-17.
