TENNERTON — The Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers scored the first 16 points in their home opener of the 2012-13 basketball season and never faced jeopardy the rest of the way Friday in a 44-21 defeat of the Pocahontas County Warriors.
While the visiting Warriors sat back in a 2-3 zone defense, the Bucs patiently found high-quality shots around the basket, shooting 50 percent from the field on the evening on 20-for-40 shooting. B-U forward Dalton Westfall scored a game-high 16 points and frontcourt partner Jon McDaniels followed with 14.
