BUCKHANNON — For the third time in six years, West Virginia Wesleyan College has a new football coach.
Clarksburg native George Shehl, a graduate of Robert C. Byrd High School and a four-year letterman at WVU, takes over the Bobcats after the departure of Jonas Jackson in November. Shehl most recently served as defensive coordinator/assistant head coach for the University of Charleston. He also had coaching stints at Marshall, WVU and The Citadel. He has a B.S. in business marketing from WVU and an MBA from The Citadel.
Shehl will assume command of a Wesleyan program that went 3-8 in 2012 after 9-2 seasons in 2010 and 2011. The former defensive back was introduced during Saturday’s men’s basketball game.
