Hall House reopens after months of renovations

Posted: Thursday, Dec 20th, 2012

BUCKHANNON — Because of a renovation project at the Hall Neighbors House, those in wheelchairs are now able to have handicapped accessibility downstairs.

So, it was fitting that Donna Landis cut the ribbon while sitting in her wheelchair to officially reopen the Hall Neighbors House, according to director Christine Carroll.

Landis said, “It’s very nice and a good thing for the people to have.”

It started out simple enough — a renovation of the downstairs bathroom to meet handicapped-accessibility standards.

But after demolition began, problems cropped up and necessitated that the Hall Neighbors House temporarily share quarters with the Upshur Parish House next door.

After several months of renovation, it was time to celebrate the Hall Neighbors House return to 66 College Ave., so an open house and ribbon cutting was held Wednesday to rededicate the facility with a look back at how the home came to be.
