BUCKHANNON — The Upshur County Office of Emergency Management recently gave a tour of Upshur County to a FEMA damage assessment team.
Jim Farry, OEM director and chair of the Lewis-Upshur Local Emergency Planning Commission, told LEPC members recently about the tour.
“We spent all day Monday (Dec. 17) touring mostly the south and southeastern part of Upshur County,” he said. “I was really amazed at how much damage there is. The Department of Highways has got a big job and I don’t see how they are going to get it done in any short fashion. And if you look through the forests, every other tree is down.”
But it was damaged residences that FEMA was concerned with, and in Upshur County, they found several.
