Lady Bucs fall in weather-shortened tourney

ROMNEY — Winter weather shortened the Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Buccaneers’ planned two-game schedule at the Hampshire Holiday Tournament to just one game, and that semifinal contest last Friday ended in a loss to a familiar sectional opponent.

The host Hampshire Lady Trojans defeated the Lady Bucs for the second time this season, winning Friday’s tournament outing by a 53-25 final score. In the teams’ previous meeting in Tennerton on Dec. 8, the Lady Bucs took Hampshire to overtime before falling 43-37, but 10 different Lady Trojans made scoring contributions in Friday’s rout.
