TENNERTON — After the Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers cut the deficit in Thursday’s Big Ten Conference basketball game down to just four points, the visiting Lincoln Cougars ended the third quarter on a 14-2 run to take control in a 49-37 win.
Thursday’s loss marked the eighth straight for the Bucs and gave the Cougars, who handed B-U a 43-33 defeat in Shinnston in the teams’ season opener, a sweep of their season series. The Bucs shot 36 percent from the field in Thursday’s loss and just 29 percent from the free-throw line on 5-for-17 shooting, including an 0-for-6 stretch during the Cougars’ decisive third-quarter run.
