Anthony J. Griffin

SPENCER — Anthony J. Griffin, 73, of Reedy, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2012 in the Roane General Hospital, Spencer.

He was born January 8, 1939, in Chicago, Ill. a son of the late Ambrose Edward and Ann Elaine Avington Griffin.

Mr. Griffin was a retired geologist in the oil and gas industry. He graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan College and was an Army Green Berets veteran. He was commissioned as an officer in the Army.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Lewellen Griffin of Reedy; step daughters, Angie Lewellen of Reedy, Debbie Pardal of North Carolina and Holly Shepherd of New York; four step grandchildren; brother, Maurice Griffin of Ellamore; sisters, Mary Halpin of Denver, Colo., Carolyn Stevens of Northfield, Vt.., Pat Shadis of Edgecomb, Maine and Priscilla McMurray of Buckhannon; nieces and nephews; in 2005 Tony welcomed Scott, his wife, Nicole and four grandchildren into his family.

There will be no service or visitation. Tony has been cremated and burial will be at a later date.
