PHILIPPI — The Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneer swim teams won 16 of the 22 contested events Tuesday and both their boys and girls teams easily won head-to-head victories in a dual meet hosted by the Philip Barbour Colts.
The Lady Bucs fielded first-place entrants in 10 of the 11 girls events Tuesday and defeated Philip Barbour by a 99-42 landslide. In boys events, the Bucs claimed six of the 11 events and claimed a comfortable 80-46 win over the Colts.
“We mixed things up a little bit and tried to get current times for some swimmers in some different events, in case they want to switch up events at the Big Ten [Conference] meet,” B-U head coach Luanne Miller remarked. “I hate to keyhole swimmers into one or two events and have them swim the same events over and over again. And, we’re still trying to put together some different combinations of relays, so we tried out a few different lineups.”
