Should parents be notified of threats?

BUCKHANNON — A parent and faculty member in Upshur County Schools expressed his concern at Tuesday’s board of education meeting with not being informed about a threat left on the school board’s voicemail referring Newtown, Conn.

Brian Brandish said, “I think we are doing a lot of great things in Upshur County. I think we are looking out for the safety of our students, and that’s why the events of last Thursday were disturbing to my wife and myself.”

Tony Vincent Herndon, 45, allegedly left a voicemail saying “that if he didn’t get his rights and privileges reinstated that the board of education knows whap happened in Newtown, Conn.,” according to the criminal complaint in the Upshur County Magistrate Court.
