New center to host first event this weekend

Owner Lisa Shaw and manager Kristy Kerwood stand behind the bar area of the Mountain View Event Center. Located at 2B Billingsly Drive, off of Brushy Fork Road, the banquet hall will hold up to 150 people.

BUCKHANNON — The Mountain View Event Center will officially open this weekend when it hosts its first event — a private birthday party.

Located next to Enterprise Rental Car on the Brushy Fork Road, the Mountain View Event Center can handle just about any event, from birthdays to weddings, reunions, meetings and much more.

Owned by Tom and Lisa Shaw and managed by Kristy Kerwood, the center can hold between 120 to 150 people in its banquet style hall.

Lisa Shaw said, “There has been a need in Buckhannon for years for this type of facility. Kristy, Tom and I talked about this idea and it grew from there.”

After months of renovation, workers were busy putting the finishing touches on the banquet hall Friday, from a coat of polyurethane finish for the bar area, to hanging the final decorations.
