Cardinals edge Bobcats in back-and-forth battle

BUCKHANNON — The West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats suffered their second straight loss by a one-possession margin against a WVIAC rival Saturday, falling by a 77-74 final score to the Wheeling Jesuit Cardinals.

Wheeling Jesuit shot a sizzling 59.6 percent from the field Saturday and sank 47 percent of their 3-pointers, shooting 9-for-19 from long range in the win. The Cardinals improved to 8-7 overall and 5-6 in the WVIAC, pulling even with the Bobcats in both ledgers.

Noah Cottrill sank seven 3-pointers and scored a game-high 25 points, while also pulling down 10 rebounds to record his first double-double in a Wesleyan uniform. Soren Dossing scored 19 points off the bench, going 5-for-10 from 3-point range, and T.J. Thompson drained four 3-pointers and scored 15 points.
