County considers housing project

BUCKHANNON — The Upshur County Commission will consider whether or not to give an unqualified letter of support towards a proposed housing development project at Thursday’s meeting.

County administrator William Parker said the issue would be back on the agenda after the commission heard from developer Joe Leighton and the Upshur County Landlords Association at the Jan. 24 meeting.

Leighton told the commission last week, “I met with the commission about six weeks ago when we first made the presentation of the idea of creating some affordable housing in Buckhannon. Then we followed up with the landlord’s association.
