Posted: Tuesday, Jan 29th, 2013

ADRIAN — A Buckhannon man who allegedly told officers he had consumed potpourri and believed he was being chased remains in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $500,000 bond following a standoff Thursday night in Adrian.

Edward “Matt” Williams, 27, of Buckhannon was arrested for burglary, two counts; child neglect creating risk of injury, two counts; grand larceny; breaking and entering; and destruction of property.

The standoff began Thursday evening after Senior Trooper V.J. Pyles and Senior Trooper R.A. Moss responded to a call of a possible hunting accident on Magnum Lane in Adrian in which someone had been shot.

There, a witness told Moss that a male named ‘Matt Williams’ had told her that his brother had been shot while hunting. However, this was later determined to be unfounded, according to the press release from the West Virginia State Police.
