BUCKHANNON — It was a quiet Tuesday night on Park Street when a local resident heard the sound of her car horn.
“It was about midnight and I was watching TV,” Elissa Mills said. “I heard my car horn and I jumped up.
“My car was close to the garage. In my bare feet, I ran outside and saw that my glove box was opened. So, I yelled out into the night air.”
“I called 911 and said I need someone,” Mills said. “[Patrolman] Jose [Boursiquot] had to have been patrolling in the area because he was there quicker then you could say ‘boo.’”
While Boursiquot was taking statements from neighbors, Mills decided to drive around and see if she could spot anyone.
“When I got down on Boggess Street, I saw these two hoodlums who obviously don’t belong in our neighborhood,” she said. “I pulled up beside of them and the minute I said, ‘Hold it for a second,’ I heard one of them say, ‘Run.’”
