TENNERTON — A strategic move on defense and a 15-0 run on offense pushed the Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Buccaneers past the Liberty Lady Mountaineers in the second half Wednesday in a 55-48 B-U win.
After Liberty forward Heather Hickman poured in 22 first-half points Wednesday, the Lady Bucs switched to a box-and-one defense in the second half, with guard Alexis McDaniels drawing the key defensive assignment and allowing Hickman just five second-half points. Trailing 29-18 at halftime, the Lady Bucs held Liberty scoreless for nearly five minutes to open the third quarter and never trailed after making their decisive third-quarter run.
