CHARLESTON — So, you want to be a judge?
Applications will be accepted for the vacancy in the 26th Judicial Circuit until Wednesday, March 6. The deadline for submitting letters of recommendation will fall the following Wednesday, March 13, according to a press release from Governor Earl Ray Tomblin’s office.
The Judicial Vacancy Advisory Commission met Monday to begin the process of finding a replacement for the Honorable Thomas Keadle, whose retirement became effective at midnight Jan. 31. The commission will review applicants and submit a list of candidates to Tomblin, who will have the final say in appointing a circuit judge.
In the meantime, the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals has appointed senior status Judge John Henning to fill the seat temporarily.
The 26th Judicial Circuit serves both Lewis and Upshur counties and a prospective applicant must reside in either of those counties.
