WESTON — V. Lynn Foster, 72, of Horner, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born on Aug. 17, 1940 in Lewis County, West Virginia a son of the late John Lee Foster and Macle Marie (Hickman) Foster. On August 20, 1977 Lynn married Elizabeth “Janie” (Moore) who survives. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one stepson Kevin Wood.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters Penny Foster Newhouse of Weston and Elizabeth Shipman of Durham, N.C.; three sons Barton Clay Foster and wife Brenda Kay of Weston, Leslie Lynn Foster and wife Rasam of Fredrick, Md., and Brian Caleb Foster of Shinnston; also surviving are grandchildren Jamie Mick, Joey Mick, Kina Smith, Brienna Currence, Joshua Foster, Jason McCauley, Amanda Foster, Dean Foster, Drew Foster, Rick Wood, and Harley Wood, and great-grandchildren Jerron Steed, Klee Steed, Jacob Mick, Jose Mick, Jason McCauley II, and Bryceton Clay Foster. In addition to his wife, children, grandchildren,and great-grandchildren his is survived by one brother Roger Foster of Weston and two sisters Delma Jean Skinner of Roanoke and Kay Kerns of Roanoke.
Lynn was a member of the Horner United Methodist Church where he enjoyed attending Sunday worship. Lynn was an avid hunter he enjoyed all types of hunting but his favorite was squirrel hunting. Lynn was a master marksman having competed in tournaments all over Central West Virginia. In addition to hunting and target shooting Lynn also enjoyed watching western movies and his favorite show was “Gunsmoke.”
Friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 North Main Avenue, Weston, on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013 from 3 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013 from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. with Pastor Wayne Smith officiating. Interment will follow funeral services in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Jane Lew where grandchildren, nephews and close friends: Jason McCauley, Josh Foster, Joey Mick, Tim Moore, Sam Moore and Matt Tomblin will serve as pallbearers.
