BUCKHANNON — Michael J. Dunlap, 47, of Buckhannon, the Tennerton community, died Feb. 6, 2013, at his home under the care of People’s Hospice. He was born on February 9, 1965, in the Bronx, New York City, N.Y., a son of the late John W. and Lillian F. Palinkas Dunlap. Michael had been a resident of Buckhannon for 24 years.
He is survived by his son Dustin S. Burr of Buckhannon; five brothers: John W. Dunlap Jr. of Massachusetts, Andrew B. Dunlap of Hyde Park, N.Y., David C. Dunlap of Peoria, Ill., Kevin R. Dunlap of Florida, and James H. Champ of Ellamore; and four sisters: Mary E. Abate of Long Island, N.Y., Doll Champ of Ellamore, Cathy F. Wilson of Maine, and Ramone Poling of Ellamore.
He is also survived by his mother-in-law Barb Nelson of Adrian, and two brothers-in-law: Anthony Abate of Long Island and Jerry Dunlavy of Adrian. Michael is survived by several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his lifelong companion, Terry Burr, and one brother, Gregory W. Dunlap.
Michael was a self-employed carpenter and plumber. He loved to fish and loved life and his family.
The family will receive friends today, Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, from 3 to 6 p.m., the funeral hour, with David Dunlap officiating at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel.
At the conclusion of the service, family and friends may gather at Michael’s residence on Jack Lane.
At the request of the deceased, the body will be cremated following the service. In lieu of flowers, Michael’s request was that donations be made to his son, Dustin S. Burr, 287 Jack Lane, Buckhannon, WV 26201.
