MORGANTOWN — Buckhannon-Upshur sophomore swimmer Maggie Miller added to her growing collection of state championships Friday with her fourth career state title, winning the 100 backstroke at the 2013 WVSSAC Championships.
Miller turned in the top preliminary time in the event Thursday, clocking 56.87 seconds, and won by more than three full seconds in Friday’s final round, with a time of 56.72. Both times earned Miller an All-American consideration.
Miller also came in second in a thrilling finish in the 100 freestyle, which saw the top three swimmers in the event touch the wall within one-tenth of a second of each other. Elkins sophomore Samantha Hall won the event with a time of 53.23, Miller came in second at 53.31 and George Washington’s Anna Davis placed third in 53.33.
