Lady Bucs fall to Elkins in sectional opener

ELKINS — The Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Buccaneers’ basketball season came to an end Tuesday when their fourth-quarter comeback try came up short in the opening round of the Class AAA Region II, Section 2 Tournament.

The Lady Bucs trailed Elkins 28-24 at halftime Tuesday and 42-30 through three quarters, but cut the Lady Tigers’ lead to single digits in the fourth quarter. However, the Lady Bucs shot just 4-for-10 from the free-throw line in the final eight minutes and 17-for-30 for the game, while Elkins did just enough to cling to the lead.
