JANE LEW — Carl Ervin Marsh, 71, of 102 Valley Green Drive, Buckhannon, formerly of Brownsville, passed away at 10:40 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013 in the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown following a brief illness.
He was born June 27, 1941 in Lewis County, a son of the late John and Minnie Cutright Marsh.
He was twice married. In 1978, he married the former Hattie J Lare, who passed away in 1990. Then, on Sept. 25, 1994, he married the former Velma Golden, who survives.
Also surviving are his step-mother, Aretta Marsh of Weston; five sisters: Ematine Marsh and husband Basil of Newton Falls, Ohio, Pauline Curtis and Irene Marsh both of Weston, Mandia Lambert of Buckhannon and Sandra Butcher of Copley; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend and caregiver whom he considered family, Bonnie Hogue.
He was preceded in death by four brothers: Roy, Don, Lewis and Delbert Marsh.
Mr. Marsh was a farmer who loved to “wheel and deal” in making trades of all kinds. He liked to sit on his porch and visit with his friends and neighbors as they passed by his house.
He had a large diverse collection of clocks and a beloved Cockatiel named Baby, who he taught many tricks. He was Baptist by faith.
Friends may call at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service at 144 Hackers Creek Road, Jane Lew, today, Monday, Feb. 25, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday from the Pat Boyle Funeral Home with the Reverend Wease Day officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
